Rise and shine San Diego as a center for solar energy excellence.

San Diego is poised to shape the future of renewable energy. We’re not standing by as the world debates climate change and ways to encourage job growth.

We’re actively helping healthy, thriving communities towards the path to 100 percent renewable energy.

As an emerging powerhouse of economy-invigorating, life-enhancing energy alternatives, we’re blazing a trail for other communities to follow.

Solar power will light the way.

As a complement to the city’s Climate Action Plan, San Diego Solar Day brings together community members, thinkers, and doers — neighborhood and business leaders, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, and enthusiasts — in a day of learning, networking, and other activities that boost a shared vision for a sustainable future powered by solar energy.

Held annually in one of San Diego’s iconic locations, San Diego Solar Day showcases the city and surrounding communities as a core region for renewable solar power expertise and success.

The event energizes community members with presentations by city, business, and neighborhood leaders and clean energy advocates. Educational activities scheduled throughout the day also build community interest in, and commitment to, solar power.

Brought to you by Cleantech San Diego and Baker Electric Solar

Cleantech San Diego is a nonprofit member organization that positions the greater San Diego region, including Imperial County, as a global leader in the cleantech economy. The organization achieves this by fostering collaborations across the private-public-academic landscape, leading advocacy efforts to promote cleantech priorities, and encouraging investment in the San Diego region. Cleantech San Diego’s membership includes more than 100 local businesses, universities, governments, and nonprofits committed to advancing sustainable solutions for the benefit of the economy and the environment.

A true solar pioneer, Baker Electric Solar and its parent company have been powering Southern California homes and businesses for over 75 years, offering the finest technologies, expertise, financing options, plus pre- and post-sale service. They are also actively involved in the community through organizations such as the San Diego Food Bank, Boys and Girls Club, Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley, and many others.

Demonstrations and discussions include the ways solar power enables energy independence, stimulates the local economy by reducing consumer costs and creating jobs, and contributes to a healthier, cleaner environment for our residents. Solar power represents an investment in our future, and San Diego Solar Day places future leaders center stage.

A Solar Science Challenge offers local students the opportunity to compete in the creation of innovative solar-powered solutions for their community.

In true San Diego style, San Diego Solar Day also offers entertainment, food and refreshments, and healthy fun for participants of all ages. With energized businesses, empowered communities, and enriched lives, San Diego sets a shining example for a bright future for all.

Join us for this exclusive kick-off event! Become a member of San Diego’s inner solar circle today to help shape the vision that will make this new annual landmark event, San Diego Solar Day June 2016, a shining success. We hope to see you there.
